What are the main techniques for a pulled elbow once happy with the mechanism?

The second technique is flexion. Again apply pressure over the radial head, supinate the arm, and then flex the elbow (while the arm is still supinated).

1. Check your lateral is really a lateral
2. Look for an anterior fat pad
8. Go through all the ossification centres
3. Look for a posterior fat pad
4. Check the anterior humeral line – Displacement suggests a probable fracture (if there is no figure of eight then this line isn’t accurate).
5. Check the radio-capitellar line
6. Look at the angle of the radial head
7. Check the cortex lines of the distal humerus
